The financial capital of India is witnessing unprecedented torrential rain in a short period of time. Three people, including two minors, were killed in two separate house collapse incidents.
The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy showers today. Meanwhile, The State Disaster Management Authority has said rains in the megapolis, which came to a standstill following incessant downpour, are likely to be lesser today. The incessant rainfall has affected train schedules, flight and road traffic severely. The maximum city yesterday saw a whopping 298 mm of rainfall, the highest in a day in August since 1997. This was second only to 346.2 mm of rainfall registered on August 23 in 1997, as per reports. According to the IMD, the well-marked low-pressure area over the Mumbai region is likely to be upgraded to ‘depression’, which would mean more rains. ( Credits: Financial Express.)
Poor Drainage Systems in India has always been a problem in Mumbai. Many projects were inaugurated after the horrific 2005 Floods. For sure it was a like Recap. Thousands peoples were stranded at the Stations Airports, Railway services were halted and many vehicles were submerged in water.
Hats Off to #Ola they were providing free shuttles from various locations for those who were stranded. Five Flood rescue teams and two diving teams were ready to render assistance at different locations across Mumbai. No matter the condition was worse but many peoples came out for help in providing shelters and food for the peoples who are stranded.
